Maher and Grosh/Case ID Help

Hey all....

I was digging through my dads knife collection (he passed when I was young), and found a couple of really old knives.....

I found a Maher and Grosh, and a Case knife. I was hoping to maybe get some years on these. Now my dad grew up in Toledo, Ohio, where Maher and grosh were located. They were a German company (correct me if im wrong) and My dads grandpa was from Germany, so Im only 3rd generation german. I do not know if this is any correlation to the age of the knife. The case I found seems to be very old as well.

There knives are well used, I wouldnt have it any other way!
I would like to know around the age of them, and possibly if there is any way i can get them professionally refurbished as they have a lot of sentimental value. Thanks for looking gents and gals.

Maher & Grosh pioneered mail order sales. They started in 1875 or so, and continued until somewhere near 1960 (sorry, I don't have any of my books with me right now, so I can't give you exact dates). From the style and construction, I would place that particular knife in the 1890-1920 time frame, give or take a decade. Ask this question in Bernard Levine's forum and you'll get better answers. And someone should be along soon with information about the Case; I can tell you that it dates before WWII.

1963 was the end of M&G, and that Tested XX should be about 1920-1945.
