I JUST RECEIVED A MAILING FROM MY ASSEMBLYMAN WILL BARCLAY AND THE FOLLOWING WAS ONE OF HIS TOPICS.

Village of Camillus Restore New York

As part of the effort to revitalize the Central New York economy, the Village of Camillus was awarded $2.5 million from the Rescue New York program for the redevelopment of the former Camillus Cutlery building.

The current plan will turn the site into a mixed use "welliness community". The proposal includes the construction of one and two-bedroom apartments, senior housing,a food court,an aquatic spa, medical and health-oriented businesses, and commerical space.

I was in strong support of this redevelopment proposal,as it will not only help the local Camillus economy and restore a historic site, but it will also promote healthy living in Central New York. It is my hope that more state incentives like this will be used for local redevelopment projects.

I guess Bill Barclay doesn't collect knives.

RIP CAMILLUS CUTERLY

I will be surprised if EPA doesn't put a stop to plans to turn the factory into residential units. And a service facility to replace a manufacturing facility? Oh ya, that will boost the economy of Camillus once the construction money is spent. Maybe the work will be done by local contractors with local labor and materials.

Too bad that money can't be used to resurrect the Camillus Cutlery Plant and knife production. That would stimulate the economy by creating jobs lost before.
