From Spyderco.com: "You also can return your knife to Spyderco's corporate headquarters for complimentary sharpening for as long as you own it. The costs and responsibility involved in shipping the knife to and from Spyderco are the responsibility of you, the original owner."

So if I'm mailing my knife to Golden for sharpening, do I enclose some money to cover shipping costs back to me? How much? Or can I phone in a credit card payment?

Don't know about phoning, but the times I used the service I enclosed the $5 requested in the form of a check. Half of the turn around time was probably waiting for that check to clear. ;) The Spydie spa does a superb job.

Looking at the site is pretty specific: Sharpening -- complimentary provided the edge of the knife is not severely damaged -- please include $5.00 for shipping and handling.

$5 requested? Hmmmm. I didn't see that anywhere. Anyway, that's certainly fair enough. Thanks for the tip, zenheretic.

(Edited to add: Aha! I just found the page at Spyderco.com that mentions the $5! Was looking at the wrong page.)

I just edited with link ;)

Mnblade, i don't wan't to disagree with you sending your knife in, but you might be better off buying a high quality sharpener.
I have the Spyderco sharpmaker and use it almost every week.
All my knives are sharp now! and it's a very usefull and pleasent thing to do.

If you are still interested in mailing in your knife you can actually send in a 5 dollar bill with your knife. I got an email from the W&R department saying it would be fine.

Mongo-man and rosconey2: Thanks for the advice. I am fairly good with a stone but the blade on the Endura has some tiny nicks and whatnot from use that I know will come out with a Spydie factory sharpening. Meanwhile, a Sharpmaker is on the old birthday list.
