Hi,

I know that mailing knives to places outside the USA is permitted, or does everybody just do it even thow it's forbidden by the Postal laws?
In England any sharp object is illegal to send to the "outside" so I sometimes get some "gardening tools"

send from England.

Now somebody wanted to send me an Crossman .22 CO2 single shot pistol (modell 2240) and the post office guys in the States told him that it is legally forbidden to send ANY type of object propelling "thing" through the mail.
They said EVERY package gets checked ( I guess scanned) in NYC before it leaves the country (perhaps only for the East coast) and even opened when suspicious.
The penalties are high they said.
Sending from dealer to dealer is OK.

Is this true ?? please let me know.

Also I need to knoew if it's permitted to send such an CO2 single shot pistol between States without any legal problems.
I guess it should be OK but as I'm from Holland I don't know how it works in the US.

Still I get the impression that it's not becomming easier for you guys it seems that you're also loosing "rights" every day just like is happening over here in Holland (Europe).

The post office gets very upset about anything that has even the slightest chance of putting them in danger. But if they are not at risk, then they do not much care what you do. They are more concerned about paper cuts and getting stabbed with staples than anything else. Every package gets xrayed before it goes on a airplane, and I would think that quite a few get sniffed out by the dogs. The post office does not keep records though. It's people like customs that you have to watch out for, they keep records and a confiscated item shows up on the "we are doing out job now pay us" statistic charts.
