I am new to the forums and I have knife issues, thought id share. I'll have pics of the collection up soon. These came today, I'll be satisfied for a week or two....haha.
All great ones! I have the Seal Pup Elite, as well - and don't let it's weight fool you. It's a serious survival and general outdoors use knife. I've even taken it diving.
Thanks, I had a decision to make between buying the Sog or the Gerber, so I bought them both hehe
After playing with both of them I found they both have postives and negatives.
The Sog being the smaller of the two is perfect for horizontal carry and general outdoors use.
The Gerber is bulky, so i'll probaly use it as a pack knife, but it is serious business. The handle has a solid feel and you could easily drive nails with the buttcap. Plus you gotta love the tactical sheath with built in sharpener.
They both feel great in the hand, here's a side by side showing the difference in size.
Yeah, that Gerber is huge. Looks like a window-breaker on the butt, too.
I looked it up - 12c27 steel. Wickedly good stuff. The SOG is AUS8 and I've found it to hold an edge nicely and sharpen up pretty quickly.
You have to love knives like these for their simplicity and "purposefulness."
