Maine axe?...I hope

Guys and gals, I picked this wedge pattern up in Vermont today. Looks like the date 36? Is stamped under the pole, 3 1/2 also on face and what looks like CW stamped on face. Any clue who the manufacturer could be? Do many axe makers stamp the date on the underside of the pole or is that a Maine specific thing? Thanks!

You can indeed! Upload them to a free photo hosting site like imgur or photobucket and paste the "direct link" from those pages. The stamps sure make it sound like a Maine. The CW stamp doesn't ring a bell off the top of my head, but pictures might clear it up.
 
A saw a V. Maybe a C but it looked like a scratch to me. The handles has nice curves, didn't see any damage and it looks like it was epoxied in instead of a wedged in.
 
Thanks for the help. I was also thinking Emerson. The "3 1/2" style of the stamp has numbers in a very similar style to another Emerson axe I have.
Any info on the wedge cap that is in there?
