Just got my CS Kobun, in the Aus 8 version. Very good sharp knife. Bigger then I thought. I bought it to use at work, and carry with me everywhere but the bars. Now, Maine law stats that you can carry a concealed fixed blade for the purpose of Hunting, fishing, and trapping. I've talked to a bunch of LE, and they've all told me the same thing. They really don't care what you are carrying, long as its single edged, no automatics, and as long as you aren't doing anything illegal at the time. Carrying it to work, and different places should be fine. Now thats what a few of them have said...but what happens when I met a different cop with a different opionon.

So what do you think I should do? Get a smaller fixed blade, or just carry it? Anyone else with similar laws in their state?

I may be wrong about this, but I think most LEO s(especially in Maine) view the knife as a tool (as we do) and so long as you aren't making a spectacle of yourself they don't care. I went to school in Maine for four years and the entire state doesn't care about anything as long as it doesn't effect anyone else. I think you need that knife for cutting the potatoes from their root-correct? :p

Its funny, but you hit right on the head. Now that I think about it, they really don't care what you're doing long as you are doing it to yourself. I have a friend with an auto, showed a LEO on the way home. LEO says "Yup! Thats illegal!" Did nothing. So then I shall carry it with common sense.

Can't be for potatos. On the coast, have to be for fighting off killer lobster, and the horrible, nasty....sea gull.

Coming down the Maine Turnpike from school, a carload of us were drinking beer, smoking dope, tossing cans at signs, and generally acting like the losers we were.We got pulled over by a Maine State cop who spoke with us for several minutes before issuing us $25.00 fine for littering:rolleyes: HE SHOULD HAVE SHOT ALL OF US!!! :D
