Maint forum spam?

Something weird in Maint forum...

First couple of pages of the MT & E forum are filled with (possibly) spam postings, in foreign language character sets. All seem to have been posted in the last 30 minutes or so. Username 'chwetwe03' for all of them.

Just a heads up...

( Edit: Looks like they've been whittled down to one posting now... )

They swing by every so often and blast a particular forum with a bunch a similar threads one after another. Report it and wait for the clean up grew to get everything back in order.

This university spam has been starting just before 5am central time - and today they really bombed it out - about twice as much as the last time.

Good job getting it all cleaned up.

They're at it again. Maint forum stuffed full of spam posts this morning. Looks like the same 'university' subject matter as before.

It's happening daily (nightly), just not necessarily the same subforums every night.

Somebody mentioned this last time this happened,
don`t click on any links and add the poster to your ignore list then you won`t see their spam anymore.

I've used the 'ignore list' so infrequently over the years, I keep forgetting how useful it can be. Good idea.

Still, I appreciate what the Mods & site admins have to put up with, in keeping this junk from overwhelming the site as a whole. I wish them the best.
