I have a my first damascus blade on the way. As far as maintaining it I heard of usig renaissance wax to cooking oil. Whats the best for preserving the etching! I already have some food safe mineral oil which would be best for me since I quite often use my pocket knives for food prep.

I’d only use Ren Wax if you are putting it out for display or putting it away.
If you are going to carry/use it, treat it like any other carbon steel(I’m assuming you are getting high carbon & nickel, and not a SS damascus).
Use it, clean it, dry it, oil it(mineral oil is fine).
The pattern will wear minimally with use.

Awesome, thanks for the info!

I’ll probably use the food safe mineral oil. Juuin case I pull it out while cooking which happens quite often.

Yea, i had redoxmusic make me some in buffalo leather. Would it be fine regardless if oiled regularly.
