Maintaining Stag

I recently purchased a set of Henkels stainless steak knives that have stag handles. The stag looks very dry and I suspect that they've seen some time in a dishwasher.

What is the current thoughts on maintaining stag ? I am thinking mineral oil followed several days later with beeswax. How far off am I?

Mineral oil will soften and discolor stag.
Paste wax and a shoe brush works well.

Thanks a lot. This is very helpful. As it turns out I have a few knives, steel, etc that have stag handles and look kind of dusty and dry.
