i need to know how to maintain damascus. i want to edc a damascus knife and would like to keep i rust free.

I think it depends pretty heavily on what the makeup of the blade is (not all damascus is the same).

Generally, if you keep it clean and dry, and keep a light coating of oil on it (food grade or whatever you need)...nearly any steel should be fine. After all, there are some pretty old examples of carbon steel pocket knives that stood the test of time well enough.

treat it like any stainless blade, it's STAINLESS damascus ...

just avoid scratching it (it's as easy as scratching a patina... almost) because it's a pain to restore the finish. you have to repolish the whole blade and re etch.
