Maintaining your vintage carbon steel blades?

Just curious what you guys are using to maintain the old blades on your vintage carbon steel knives.

Just your standard gun oil, Sheath, that kinda stuff?

I'm guessing that when your talking about scale materials that are, say 75 years old, they've had so much body oils, sweat, and goodness knows what else, soaked into them, there likely isn't much you can do there.

Just added that part as it's pretty difficult to oil the blades without at least oiling the edges of tbe scales at the same time.

Not interested in taking off existing patina, but don't want rust either. I would imagine, as with other vintage items, it's best to leave them as is. I do store in a pretty dry area, with desiccant packs in with the knives, and the other things that make noise. ;)
