Maintenance for stag handles?

What causes stag handles to turn gray? Can this be prevented? Can the grey be taken out? Someone asked me this question. I had it happen to me. Any help would be appreciated. thanks.
 
Stag naturally ages. Keeping a coat of paste wax on it will slow aging down. Lubricating oils, skin oils, and dirt contribute greatly to stag discoloration.
TMK aging and discoloration can not be reversed.
