Hey everyone, I just registered to this forum and I could not find a clear answer to my question after doing a search. The answer is probably buried somewhere in the archives but I am looking for a quick answer!
I have a small knife collection which is comprised of a couple of beauties. Of these are a microtech dragonfly butterfly knife, and a benchmade auto. Both knives have the typical black grime and buildup surrounding the components which allow the blades to move. I want to take better care of these knives and clean them ASAP. My father is involved in the medical community and has access to an alcohol bath sonic cleaner for surgical instruments, as well as unlimited compressed air. I was thinking of putting both knives in the sonic cleaner, and then coating the blades and bushings with oil.
Is this correct?! Would anyone recommend anything different? The handles of the microtech are aluminum, and the handles of the benchmade are a typical type of composite - would these handles be ok for the sonic cleaner? Thanks for any help, I will post pictures of the knives after they are cleaned.
