We've had a major flood here in my area. Reports are saying that there's been as much as 8 inches of rain in a four hour period. There have been multiple evacuations and deep water rescues along with landslides that are blocking roads making getting everyone to safety even more difficult than it already is. The local National guard unit has been called out to assist with ongoing rescue and evacuation efforts.

8 inches in 4 hours? Wow. I think we've had 8 inches in 2 years here. Good luck and stay safe.

Good luck. We aren't flooded, but the sump pump has been running all night and we're surrounded by standing water. A bad combination of frozen ground (rapidly thawing) and lots of rain the last 24 hours.

Wow I think we got hit by the same storm I had a small tornado about 10 miles away bad rain to at around 10:00 am last night Good luck stay safe and take the high ground!

As an update, the water levels have gone down a good bit, but there is still flooding in areas. At least the roads are passable for the most part where they were flooded. Except for the areas where the road has been washed away. They're saying that the rivers and streams in the area were at least eight feet above flood stage, which is at six feet. And now we have a couple inches of snow. Flooding to snow overnight? Got to love this mountain weather.

It was probably the same storm. The weather showed one huge band running from down around Florida to way up north to the Pennsylvania area. As for the high ground, thankfully my house is on it. The water didn't come close to the house even though there's a stream on the property which flooded big time. The lower part of the yard has several inches of water standing in it.

It was much worse than this light night. The water was out in the road, across both sides and about six inches deep.

My mom is posting pics up on Facebook. My whole family is back there, and apparently (thankfully) they're all safe.

JSMCustoms, stay safe yourself.

Good luck and don't drivee through any water without walking or truly knowing how deep it is, whether the road washed out, or how fast the water is.

If that happened here I would be hoofing until I could get an excavator out here
