Thought I'd start this thread for questions about the contest.

Do you have to accomplish all the items listed?

Is the use of paracord out of the question?

What we have done is given some guidelines. Whatever you do or complete is up to you but the person who does the best/most will win. Simple.

Tony has listed the basic rules. You guys have to take it from there. But again, the judging will be done on who does the best with the least. So, if you want to bring your motorhome, have at it, but you're not gonna win ;)

Sounds great, does it matter if I take several times to do it all?
(just as you started posting about the contest, customers requests began pouring in, so my spare time is somewhat short for the next two month, and of course my customers are dear to me)

Again, this contest runs until the end of November so take as much time as you want but we will only take one submission for your entry, so if you do one skill and post it up then that's your entry and you can't come back and add new skills later. So, make a package of your whole thing, make sure it's like you want it, then submit. It will be judged on how well it is done and the little things and details. For example, this is suppose to be a survival camp, so if you build a fire on your back deck, then build a shelter in the woods 40 miles away, then that's not exactly a survival camp and we're going to judge by that. The more effort you add and the less tools you use and the more you actually live and use your camp at one time, the better your overall grading will be.

Guess I'm going to have to upgrade my membership. :D

I wish this could have been started a few weeks ago. We'll probably be covered in snow by the time I can get out there to do this.

But I guess survival isn't supposed to be easy.

But remember, the harder it is on the participant, the better the score you may receive ;)

I have exactly the opposite dilemma. If I go right now I'll be eaten alive by skeeters.

I EDC a folder, a SOG Powerlock and a LMF Scout firesteel. Can I use them along with my Esee knife (Probably my esee-4) and Altoids PSK?

The rules have already been posted, but with that said you are free to bend the rules any way you want. Even bring your motorhome, but the judging will go by the rules. ;)

The largest ESEE I own is an RC4, its gonna be cool and raining pretty much for the next 2 months here. Sounds like a kickass time to me. Moose

My math class is the same. They tell you to buy a calculater and show you how to use it. But they don't let you use it on certain parts of the test and homework. It's totally cool and I can see why, just took me a minute or two to figure it out. Which reminds me, I need to finish studing for a test today instead of thinking of where to do this contest if I can. :o
