I recently got a Spyderco Military, and I've been thinking of making a nice Kydex sheath for it. Something to stash it in when I'm wearing gear, maybe something to make it easier to grab when it's in my pack or whatnot.

How would I go about this? Is kydex easy to work with? Are there any specialized tools needed? Is this something that I can do on my own, or would I have to request something made by someone else? Assuming I can do this on my own, where can I get some Kydex? Pricing? Timeline?

Lots of questions, thanks for any/all answers. :)

I've just made one for my home-made fighting knife a few days ago.
The thickness of the sheet makes difference in working with.
Thinner gets soft faster and fits better to things stuffed in.

Do google with "kydex form" or something and you will see many issues.
Various tools are recommended in those articles but I only needed cooking stove
and gloves along with common tools like files, sand papers or so.
Gloves are quite recommended as things get quite hot.
PVC glues works but not sure about their strength.

I did that search, and it pulled up some interesting articles.

A couple more questions:

Is vacuuming out the air really necessary? Or can you just heat the plastic enough that it will form a tight seal on it's own? How would I make it so that it can hold the knife in both an open and closed position? Would I have to make a mold for each and then combine them together?
