I don't do it with fixed blade, but you could.
But on my EDC folders, I have added a short lanyard and on that lanyard I hang a teensy Victorinox "Classic." Neat. Pull the lanyard out of pocket and have TWO knives!
So....I get a nice folder for use where dictated and have a nail file, tweezers (BEE STINGS BEE STINGS), toothpick, small knife (LETTERS, C A R D B O A R D, fingernail cleaning, and.....SCISSORS. All in one hand.
At first I thought it would be in the way but don't find that to be so. If I am trimming out the weeds in the goldfish pond and don't want the SAK dangling in the water or snagging anything, it's really simple to tuck it into the hand or between a couple fingers.
Now I have TWO SAK's (one on each rotated EDC folder)
ANOTHER excuse to buy another knife.
(one's red, the other black)
