Hey guys!

I've been making stock removal knives for some time now, and I really enjoy it. Especially since I can spend half of my time building contraptions to make my process more efficient. There are always new puzzles to solve in knifemaking.

But it's fun to try new stuff, and I would really like to make some pattern welded and laminated steel. Since I'm not that interested in excessive hammering (bad rotator cuffs) would it be possible to make it with a welder, a forge and a forging press?

And then use the newly made pattern welded or laminated steel to make the knife with stock removal methods.

Thanks!

Yes it is very possible.
I make a billet of Damascus then draw it out into a bar. Say 1/4 inch thick. Then draw your profile of the knife you want. Then cut it out and remove the stock you doen't want. What you are doing with that equipment is making the metal or stock.
Good luck
