I've got several knives that have stainless pocket clips and for which black clips are not available. Having them professionally anodized black is cost prohibitive and the bake-on gun finishes are not that durable (nor is the anodizing, for that matter). I've been toying with the idea of using spring steel of the appropriate thickness to duplicate the original and cold blueing them. They'd be easy to touch up when they get scratched from use. Anyone done this? I was thinking that a cheap source of material would be the steel from a drywall or putty knife.
