Busse should create a high end INFI blade particularly with a young first time blade owner in mind. you remember your first blade FOREVER!
I remember when my dad bought me my first pocket knife so well its like it was yesterday. regardless the fact that it was a kmart 10$ knife from the 80's it was so special!!
Becoming a man is such an important thing to a kid.. I plan to take my son camping when the time is right to have the "Man" talk with him and present to him his first knife as a "right of passage".
If Busse had a knife available that was just the right (first knife) size and maybe offered a name engraving an some color options for dads to create the perfect father son (or daughter) memory. that would be such a cool way to promote the Busse name!:)

Well they'd be selling at least 2 to me.
My first knife was also one of the Kmart Chinese specials for $5 that used to be in the bin next to the sporting goods register. I ended up with a few of those- they were my most prized possessions next to my Haro Group 1A BMX bike and my BB gun.
It'd be nice to get my boys a knife with the Busse warranty, because let's be honest, who more than young boys will actually do something hard enough or dumb enough to actually bust one up.

You mean a MOAB is not what everyone gives the kids for a first knife. LOL I have started my boys with scrapivores and as they learn and understand more I will upgrade their blades to the appropriate size. Plus they get to play with some pretty cool blades when daddy goes outside. ;)

I have had trophy shops laser engrave some of my Busse knives.

Maybe that way it would not be limited to what is available but more what you can find then the knife that works for you will be even more special ?

Some folks need a Steak knife
and some need a skinner ?
And some even need a chopper ?
All can be laser engraved :)

p.s.

BSA rules prohibit fixed blades for some reason so that is why Bacon Bits first knife was a folder.

I gave my 4 kids Mora Companions to start with, but I would love to upgrade them to Busse knives.

Really? When I was a kid in the 80's sheath knife handling was still in the handbook, but not routinely taught.

I stayed in til 19, attained Eagle, and didn't know it had been phased out

Got my eagle around 01 and it had been banned my entire career, really frustrating. It might be "troop specific" was always unclear to me

That is true, but.... plenty of people carry and normally it's looked over if not flaunted. I really don't understand this rule! I support most BSA rules, but... not this one!

I am an Assistant Scoutmaster right now, and I looked hard to find regulations about knives. I am pretty sure it is District regulated, and I haven't seen any rules for where I am yet.

I bring my fixed blades every meeting and bust them out and distribute them for our fire building units.

The Busse's work best because I can always smooth out the dings from when they start hitting the concrete as they split wood or get careless - never have to worry about the knife, I can focus on their safety skills.

Must be a different boy scouts than the one my boy is in. They are afraid of fire. They "simulate" fire building materials with edible treats. Licorice, mini marshmallows, crackers etc. And then after they have learned how to make a fire, they get to eat it afterwards ! Yay! The one that really got me was when they would not let the boys rough house during play time, because it was not respectful and did not acknowledge personal boundaries.

For gosh sakes! Knives are dangerous!

As far as a son needing a special first blade....the blade I always admired was my Dad's knife. It was old, and beat up, but he always had it when we camped or fished. It was the one I watched him use. And that is what made it special. He never gave it to me though. But I think Dad's tools are the ones a boy idolizes. In my mind, passing them down makes them special.

But, if life has taught me anything my opinions mean "NUTS"
