This 2009 AKI piece needed be imaged in-sheath for it to be captured at it's finest. So here it is, a co-production of Curt Erickson and Julie Warenski, truly partners in the making of this California dagger. The handle treatment is identical, both sides, Pietersite cabachons.

My only question - where in the world does someone find THIS much 24K gold for a knife??

I'd say the artistic value is more than the value of the gold! That is just amazing.

Pleasure seeing it again,
Peter

That is magnificent from one end to the other. I'm in awe of the talents at work here.

Thanks for posting this Bobby!

It's always great to see work by two devoted and earnest makers advancing the craft as Curt and Julie do.

Sublime sophistication..

Could be right off the "Queen Anne's Revenge". This one aint bad, Bob!

Wow! You know that you are dealing with some serious artists when they take what were historically some of the fanciest and most elaborate knives ever made in the Western world and use that as their STARTING POINT!!!!!:D

Joe, if you read the first paragraph in the second column of this 1976 American Blade page, from an article on Buster Warenski, he refers to how a whole new area of knifemaking, relating to antique "reproductions" was awaiting it's beginnings. You struck a chord here, I think.

Best,

Bob Betzner

I read somewhere that Buster was a painter before he became a knifemaker. His skills were incredible no doubt. In my opinion he has created some of the finest knives in existence today.
