Talking with Jolipapa about some brands ( US and French as well) I've asked to myself which are the industrial knife-makers in US who are working for
brands.
For exemple it was traditional in Thiers. Many brand owners had their knives manufactured by the same workshops.
GEC makes and has made some knifes for brands.

I would be very interested to know if such a companies ( other than GEC) exists in America .

Of present days, Bear & Son comes to mind. I heard something about Colonel Coon doing that, but not really sure. Case seem to make only their house brands (Crandall, Zippo etc.), so they don't count, unless SFOs like John Deere and such could be considered as side brands.

Empire, Schrade, Camillus, Utica, and a few others were huge subcontractors in their day, but have faded away!!
GEC does limited production of private brands; Maher&Grosh, Waynorth and Bulldog, and some others.
Bear and Sons produce all kinds of knives, now!!
Small artisan producers make short runs for others

Utica is still around. uticausa.com From their about page:

Eric Albers made a couple of short runs of JBF Champlin knives (~15 knives)!!
Sold out instantly!! J.B.F. Champlin was a brand in the late 1880s, now produced by a grandson and Mike Losicco ( galvanic1882 galvanic1882 )!! Just sold out instantly of course!!

Eric makes his own wonderful knives also; he's an ex-Canal Street cutler, still young, still working!!
Does anyone know of other Cutlers who make short runs with old or other brands??

I don't think Utica is making Klein knives anymore. The last couple I have bought were made in China and Stainless Steel
It could still be Utica (or not). They've been having some of their stuff made in China for a while, though they're still making some stuff on Noyes Street in Utica.
I have two Uticas made in Japan, too.

Utica might still do subcontracts, but not short specific, historic runs, I think!!
