makers in NY...or surrounding area?

I was just wondering if there are any knife makers who are currently working in New York area. I am interested in learning how knives are made in the hope that I will be able to do it my self. If at all possible I would like to meet with you and see how you go about the process. I am located at West Point, but am willing to drive.
