I will be moving to a small town about 45 minutes south of Ottawa and wouldn't mind meeting some other makers in the area. I know Robert Mayo is in Renfrew but who else it making within easy traveling of Ottawa?

It will take a couple of weeks for me to get settled in and semi set up, but I wouldn't mind meeting with some other makers.

Although I am a hockey fan I am so sick of hearing about the Jets. It seems to have been on the news every day since I moved here back in 2002. I don't think they will get them back and if they do the team will fold so quickly it will make your head spin.

I am a leafs fan any how so apparently I have no taste in hockey teams. It would be nice if the Expos came back into being

I'd gladly meet with you! I'm in Hull, near Ottawa. Only knife maker I know here is Bob Mayo. "Doc Holiday" (Alex) started to make some knives as well, he's in Aylmer. Hope your move goes well

Apparently the move back (from Phoenix) is all but done. Sorry that you are moving to another province without a hockey team. :p
Good luck on the relocation!

Ontario has 2 NHL teams, unfortunately neither of the can remember what its like to male the play offs let alone win the cup.

Once I get settled in and set up I will have to make arrangements to meet some of the Ontario makers. I really hope that the Ontario doctors can fix my elbows so I can start swinging a hammer. I find out at the end of the week what the current surgeon wants to do, he was talking about surgery again:( I also get the results from the MRI I had on my knee on Monday, I am hoping for just a torn miniscus. That is an easy fix and I would be up and running 4-5 days later or so I was the last time. As much as I like riding and working on bikes its really getting hard on my body:o

In a town called Wilno, which is about 30 minutes from Renfrew, is a man named Grant Fraser. He is the one who got me started making knives. He has an odd schedule because he plays in a band (a blues type band if you like music also), but he makes some very nice knives. I would highly recommend that you look him up.

I love the blues, it was a big influence on me when I played. You wouldn't know the name of his band off hand, it might be an easy way to meet him and enjoy some music:D

im north in st eustache, pm me if your in montreal we should get a coffee and shoot the shit. i could bring some knives if you want to see.

I believe it is just called the wilno blues band. They play on tuesday nights at the wilno tavern.

Go with Bob's info. I am able to get up there one week a year, and see him on Tuesday nights and usually one trip to his house to see the knives he has accumulated in the previous weeks. I am not much of a musichead, I go for the good beer on tap and because my brother and father like the band. I am more of an audiobook type of guy. I guess I am saying is that I am not sure what the band is named.

Thanks for the info blues knives and the valley sounds like a god night to me:thumbup: I will definitely be checking it out once I get settled in.
