Don't know if this thread has been done before, but I'd like to see what fellow makers find themselves carrying as EDC's. I don't have a pic just yet (I'll update my post tomorrow), but for me it's one of the first knive I ever made: it's a little 3 1/8 OAL fixed blade made from 1/8" thick 1084 that I did a convex chisel grind on. Maroon linen Micarta scales and a little brass pin and thong hole tube for the handle. I also did a little filework on the spine and made a handy Concealex keychain sheath.

What I'm curious to see is:
1) If makers typically EDC their own knives, other maker's knives, or nothing at all.

If you're like me you generally carry a different knife everyday, so describe, picture what you carry most often. Mine is on my keychain, so I have it everyday. Otherwise I usually have something bigger and more practical as the knife I actually use.

My knife, a really loud whistle and an Arc AAA LED flashlight that is ridiculously bright for what it is!

Obviously didn't spend too much time on the finish here!

For the past six to eight months I've been carrying a little damascus neck knife with a warnclif blade. The damascus had a flaw in the handle and I didn't want to discard it so I figured it would be a good test blade.

It's about to be retired for my first linner lock, we'll see how it handles offshore life!

Most of the time I take a blade that is what I term a cull, on that for one reason or the other I won't sell, and use it for a while and beat hell out of it. If nothing else it shows me what works and what doesn't.

I do the same thing as Will here. I just posted this one recently.

I didn't think the blade was good enough so I thought it would make a good test and carry blade for awhile. Good thing I live out in the middle of nowhere and the library ladies know mw well.
:D

Right now I carry the very first real blade I forged, it's a drop point convex ground folder blade with practice filework on it now (though not originially) made to fit in a factory switchblade frame. The fit is awful though and I want to carry something completely made by me, but living in the city I'd rather carry a folder when out and about. I have a wharnclif slipjoint blade forged up and and pretty much ready to go, but I'm a little unsure of myself making the rest since I've never made a folder before. Eventually it'll get done though.

I dont want to point out the obvious, but you gots no keys on your keychain. :D

Me carrying a knife is the same as not having one. The only time I really need one is when I cut the strings on hay bails but I'll normally have them stashed along the fence line. All my rejects are used for that purpose......

What?! I lost my keys?! $%&! :D I have a giant carabiner that I carry the little "tactical" setup above on, a Lexar Jump Drive USB flash module to back up my business computer every night, keys for both my offices, my wife's car keys, my mailbox key, two home keys and my Thule rack keys. The image looked much better sans keys. I feel like a janitor with this setup. I am SO envious of people who get by with one house key and one car key. Man, I'd love a life like that! :D

Right now I go between these two:

As soon as I can get one of these made without selling it or giving it away, I plan to switch to this knife. It's much lighter and slimmer than the other two.

I carry a Buck 110 and a Swiss Army knife. I'm in the middle of making a small fixed blade for carry. It's a flat ground D2 blade, with a 1 1/2" sheepsfoot blade. It's 1/8"x1 1/4" stock 5 1/4" overall length. I putting thin jigged bone slabs on it.

Hmm... Don't carry anything I've made, I work in an office. :D I alternate between a Lonewolf/Loveless City Knife, a Bulldog doctor knife or a Case doctor knife. And still get some odd looks when I'm opening a ream of paper or cutting up an apple...

Oddly enough no one seems to mind when I bring one I've made in for show and tell. Go figure that one out.

Really nice knives, fellas! George, is that a bird/trout? I really like it! You put some serious file work on the blade, too.
