Where'd you get the knife ?
I don't recognize this makers mark, but I do know that there a whole lot of junk Pakistani Damascus knives out there that are being shilled as " custom " or " handmade "
Not saying this is, but it's a real possibility if nobody recognises this mark.

The knife is a gift twice over, gifted once to my friend, then to me, so i know little or its origin,
I am curious though as to what makes the Pakistani Damascus so poor compared to other Damascus? i would assume that it would be poor steel used but that is only an assumption.

It's all pretty unknown, we don't know who is exactly making these knives , what two metals / steels they make the steel from, and how they treat the steel.
It's often pretty soft, and for all we know they could be using random junkyard scraps to make their Damascus steel.
There are some that aren't this bad though.

A decent picture of the whole knife as well as the sheath could help.

I i will get a photo sorted tomorrow as its late here almost 02:30am
thank you for your help so far

Do they bother with a makers mark?

I've only seen a couple, but they were free of any such marks.

The file work looks nice and crisp on that one and the mark doesn't look like an afterthought. I'd bet it's a legit custom. No idea who made it, but it looks ok to me.

It was a gift. Use and enjoy it.

EDIT: There's a company called Alistar UK that makes "custom" damascus knives. They're apparently pretty decent quality, but are definitely closer to Pakistani Fleabay knives than a good custom. I suspect that may be what this is, but I couldn't find a good picture of their mark.

There are companies such as Buck & Bear who do have marks put on their knives.
There are a couple more that I can't remember though.

Now this knife very well could be a legitimate custom, but it's getting hard to tell and this picture isn't enough to go by.

Edit : btw I looked up those Alistar UK knives, and they look like they're the same knives Buck & Bear imports into the US except lacking any kind of makers mark.
I've heard Buck & Bear knives are decent as well, definitely not all Pakistan Damascus knives are useless.
