What do you guys prefer? The maker's name, his initials or if he's come up with a symbol or touchemark? Just trying to figure out what I'm going to do.

I find that a maker's name gives the most information. There have been a lot of posts here asking if someone recognizes a makers mark. That is not a problem if your mark is your name.

I use a symbol (Omega) on trade knives and knives with little space left for a mark. On my finer work I use the symbol and my first name initial and my trade name 'Ogg' (M.Ogg). I use the symbol primarily to denote that the kinfe was forged rather than ground. But I break tradition from time to time as well. A knife I just finished up recently got my initials, MAB. That one was for my Dad and meant alot more to him than my trade name for various reasons. I just like to stay flexible with my mark to suit the occasion. Then there's always the 'sterile' knife mark. I can't tell you what that is because it would blow my cover :D
