Hey members,
Hope I'm not breaking any rules but I was wondering (in general) how much value would a popular makers signature (who is still living) engraved on the knife add? 10%, 25%? I am considering a Microtech with Tony Marfione's signature and it's quite a bit more that one without.

Thanks for the help

How many were made with the engraving?

It's not the signature that adds value, it's how many knives were produced with that signature. A one-of-one with the engraving is worth far more than 10,000 produced with the same signature engraving.

I think you're in the best position to answer your own question.

If you're willing to pay more for a knife with his signature rather than pay less for a knife without it, then clearly the signature version is worth more, because you're willing to pay more for it.

As far as what the percentage of the signatures value is, it's whatever the difference in price is that you're willing to pay.

Of course, just because you're willing to pay more for the signature, doesn't mean someone else will (like if you ever want to sell it). The "worth" of a knife, and especially the value of something like a signature, can be very subjective.

Trying to determine any sort of "standard market value" for a knife can be difficult if not impossible, because the "value" is going to be whatever someone is willing to pay at any given time.

Knives make bad investments. Like the one with the signature? Buy that one.
