Makers to consider - first custom razor

Hi folks

My boyfriend has been using a straight razor for a year or two I believe and he mentioned a while back that he was looking at getting a custom one made. My first thought was, naturally, to go on Bladeforums and see what I could dig up on makers :D I figured I might get him one for his birthday that's coming up this fall so I thought I'd ask you fellas for some recommendations of makers to check out.

I figure a budget of ~$500 should get me reasonably far, considering the construction of them isn't terrible complex(?) compared to other folders.

Any and all help is much appreciated. I am completely lost in the world of straight razors, as I have never really had the need for one :D
