I was messin' around the other day and I noticed that the edge on my EDC was in need of a tuneup so I used the edge of my car window to realign the edge,(I read somewhere that it would do in a pinch) worked great.

This got me to thinkin', what else could I use? Luckily I carry more than one EDC so I used the back side of another knife and this also worked reasonably well.

I was wondering if anybody else had some suggestions on what else to use.

Beer bottles work pretty good in a pinch, er, uh, at least that's what my drunkard friends tell me...

The unglazed circle on the bottom of a cup, saucer or plate works well.

Careful about the car window trick.

What do you think it looks like to a passerby? :)

And about the beer bottles... trust me, beer and sharp implements do not mix. :D

I guess anything made of glass (and with a straight edge or flat surface somewhere) will do, since glass is so hard.

The higher alloy CPM steels, using lots of Vanadium, results
in knives that cannot be sharpened by just anything. This may
be a negative side effect. Yes, when I think about it, that
carbon steel sure is sweet to sharpen.
