I know Phillip, I still haven't finished the other WIP!!! :o ;) :p

This knife is an order and it has to be finished soon. I've been taking pics and sending them to the customer, Lorien. He's posting it all in the Custom section. I thought it would be fun to share here, but it's way too many pics to post in a second thread, so here's a link over to the custom section if you're interested :)

Warning to dial up users--- LOTS of big photos!!!

Thanks :)

The pics look awesome! I love the WIP, and it looks like it's gong to be a great blade! Can't wait to see the rest of the progression.

Man, tough crowd! Do WIP's only interest folks if they are of a guy's first knife now-a-days??? LOL

Maybe it's just the part about having to click a link ;) :p

I love a WIP and yours is especially good. Thank you for taking the time to document it. It really makes clear how much skilled work goes into a knife. Makes me realize that maybe I should start my smithing efforts by making shovels or cabinet handles before I get to knives. I finally move to a place where I can pursue this interest in about 9 days and looking forward to making use of the WIP's I have saved up on the hard drive. I think I am likely to be looking at this one many times. Thank you.

Nick, great job on everything. Thanks for posting it!

This really shows how much work it is to forge a Damascus knife from scratch. You put a lot of care into each step and it shows in the finished product.

I've been watching too Nick. Way, way cool!!! It's just when you're a little fish in a big pond with bigger fishes, I try to keep my mouth shut. (Note the emphasis in the word try.) Truly excellent forging by the way. You're my hero!

I am loving the WIP thread! Possibly the best I have ever seen!
A sincere thanks for all the work I know you put into the WIP thread.

Hey Nick,

Like others, have been following in the custom section. Fantastic WIP. Thank you very much for taking the time to take all the pictures! Your explanations regarding each step are fantastic as well.

Super thread, perhaps the best WIP that I have had the pleasure of following. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

What a crappy WIP .

Seriously though, if you haven't followed the link in this post, do it now! You'll see how top tier knives come together. Keep up the good work!:thumbup::thumbup:

I see a swollen head in your future :D very nice Nick , spent an hour this morning looking and reading .

Sure glad you added shadow to the WIP , with out him the ADD would raise it's nasty head .

Thanks Jack! :) He's a good helper! Okay... not really... he's actually kind of a pain in the ass out there :foot: but I do love having him around :D

The photos seem to be getting more detail oriented as I go, so there may be some things that could give some newer makers an idea or two (maybe it would be what NOT to do, IDK!!! LOL) in the thread at this point. :)

I've been following along over there as well. Fantastic WIP to say the least. The knife is turning out quite incredible as well. I cannot wait to see it etched:thumbup:

Good god, Nick. I finally went over the whole WIP and while the knife is beautiful, the amount of photos you must have to go through and post, etc. must be nearly doubling your time. Awesome stuff.

Curse you, Nick Wheeler. Now I want to start forging. There goes the new truck. Great tutorial/WIP.

I doubt people are going to see "What not to do" from that WIP Nick....amazing attention to detail....I still drool looking at that beefcake anvil...ugh lol
