hey is that salt in the dillo shells if it is you need to use borax (20 mule team) salt dries it out yes but it does not preserve it and it can be rehydrated and rot and very subceptible to bugs borax preserves it and is a bug proofer trust me I'm a taxidermist I use it everday borax not salt use it

Hey Ruben!
Thank you for sharing this `step by step photo series´!!

I really enjoyed this, it was very educational I musts say!

And I like shape of the knife

Will you post the finished knife here too???.

I second what Martin said! Thanks for sharing your process, looking forward to seeing the final product.

I apreciate the tip, I didn't know taxidermist used borax.

I use an old gaucho method, with a mix of salt and alum, that dries it and protects against bugs too.

I'll try borax next time! :)

Here's how the other blade looks like.

Another progress pic :)

Will finish these two probably in the weekend, I still haven't decided what to use for scales.
