Hey guys. I have some knives that I think need some new handles. I seen some videos on how to make micarta but have not heard much about epoxy/polyurethane...
I've read that epoxy is too brittle once cured. All I can find on poly is info about it as a laminate or coating. Here's what i am wanting to do.
The plan is to take a rectangular tray and fill it with RTV silicone. Then lay my original
scale in the silicone level with the silicone and let dry. Peel scale out of silicone and fill with resin, epoxy or poly. and hardener. lastly drill out scales for screws and clean up edges then attach. I'm not sure what type of material to use for the scales but I know I'd like them to be clear or as colorless as possible. I definitely don't know what I'm doing but I'm going to attempt it anyway so any advice or correction would be appreciated. Thanks,Dan
