I was wondering why I haven't seen any knives made from 9V. Has anybody worked with this?

Looking at the datasheet and this looks like it would be an amazing knife blade.

Anyone know why nobody seems to use this?

i have used 10v before btu 9v seems to be target hardness of 54Rc making it a bit soft at the steel typical hardness and imm not sure what it would take to get it to a more knife like hardness

I asked about this a while ago and got the same answer. it looks like it has great wear resistance, especially in the comparison graphs, but i think it is to soft.

I'm about to try my making a knife with S35VN. I was considering 9V, 10V, or S90V after that. But I think 9V is out of the running now.

Anybody used M4?

Buy yourself lots of grinding belts. ;) All of those high Vanadium content steels are going to eat grinding belts.
