making a knife ???

i have decided to make my own , no matter if terrible or not . custom prices are way way up there. question is what process and how do you cut mammoth scales to fit a certain size knife? noob question i know lol. im gonna buy my own mammoth and a kit and try it myself , and save some money. any info please or reading directions ?

Mammoth ivory can be cut to general profile with a bandsaw, jigsaw, or even a coping saw. It will take some time, but you aren't going into production. They can be finsh shaped with files, a dremel, and sandpaper.
When you get your kit, let me know here, and I'll try to walk you through the process of building the knife. Be wary of following "kit" instructions. They aren't always the best way.
