I want to make a ridged or stiff leather sheath for a fighting knife. I want to copy a design used by the Rangers for their jump knives. They put lanyard on the bottom to secure them upside down or regular. I need it stiff because I dont want the point cutting thru the leather. Whats the best material. I thought about sheet brass, copper, & aluminum-but I concerned about corrosion. I say a sheath by sherry greco of Greco Knives for their companion model-its looks like its very stiff leather or has been enhanced.

thanks in advance.

John how about using kydex for the welt and about 9/10 oz leather I think that would make it stiff
