Making a sheath for a knife i bought..

Hi all,

I just purchased a new camping/hunting knife.
Sadly, it came with a cheap and ugly-looking cordura sheath that i would like to replace.

My father used to makes knives earlier, and he says that since the knife has a fingerguard, it is very hard to make a sheath witout a buttonstrap that will hold the knife safe.

Can you guys prove him wrong?

Very possible to accomplish by a number of our fine sheath makers here on this forum. Just needs to be in a deep tapered pouch sheath similarly styled to the one pictured below.
