I remember one of the old ABS guys teaching a Handles and Guards class up at Bill Moran's place. He asked, "Are your drill bits round or square?" Everyone replied, "Round." He then asked, "Then why do you make your tang with 90 degree sharp corners?" He went on to explain that radiusing the tang edges in an arc will easily fit into the end of a slot drilled with a round drill and filed with a round file. He said to spend all your time on the sides of the tang and slot.
Also, get yourself a surface plate or thick piece of glass. A VERY FLAT surface is critical to either check or create flat mating surfaces so parts go together without gaps.
You might be right, if I only knew what it was! I shall do a Google on it, thank youAs a newbie the best tool you should invest in is a file guide. It will improve the accuracy of your work in many areas.
