I have a design of a tomahawk but i was wondering what grade of ware plate do I need to use. Please let me know of any grade I need to use.

I don't know anything about ware plates, but I do know a little more about blade steel. Unfortunately, Google only bring up dinner ware when I search "ware plate"

Are we talking about wear plates, which is some kind of steel plate with a super tough or hard coating? If so, I don't know what if any kind would be good for tomahawks. Why wear/ware plate for a tomahawk?

That is my bad it is wear plate. The sheet I was looking to buy has a rockwell hardness of B85 and can be heat treated to C56. So that leads me to my next question is that to hard of a material or do I still need to heat treat it after I finish woring on the head?

That makes more sense. I wasn't being sarcastic, I really am ignorant like that. Just the name "wear plate" sounds to me like a steel that would be high in edge retention and low in toughness. Probably not a great idea for a tomahawk, but that's not based on anything but my assumption.

How impact resistant are they?
