I have a couple Emersons and I love them. I sometimes do not like how they cut though. I bought a A100 off the exchange to try sharpening both sizes to see if I prefer it that way. I know Emerson purist will gasp and say "just use it and you will learn to love it". I bought my first Emerson a CQC10 and have used it extensively. I just want to try it out.

My only method of sharpening is a sharpmaker but I do not have the diamond rods. I have wrapped sand paper around them to sharpen friends knives in the past. Would you guys suggest using sand paper? If so what grit would you recommend? Should I start with the 30 or 40 setting? I know this won't be easy and it will take some time. I could buy the diamond rods or send it out to Richard J but I just bought the A100 and a Ray Laconico folder is on its way. My wife would shoot me if I spent anything else on knives anytime soon. Thanks in advance!

I sent mine to Richard J and it came back looking like it was born that way...Richard is the man for that kind of work if you're looking for positive results without the accompanying frustrations.

He has sharpened mine in the past and he is a class act. Like I said I have spent a lot of money on knives lately and even though its really cheap, I dont want to explain another package coming to the house.
