Hi Guys
I wish to try using some bone for scales but I'm not sure how to prepare them, what I mean by that is I'm going to use fresh cow bone how does one clean it does one (cook it, bury it in an ant hill) I understand about using epoxy to stabilize the bone But I need info on both what part of the bone eg: ribs or legs bone and the procedure leading up to the point where one actually starts to turn the items into scales.

any info gratefully accepted

PS I'm an retired old fart in Western Australia and I have been making Damascus blades for about a year in an amateur sort of way to give me some thing to do instead of watching soapies.

Thanks in advance guys

Leg/shin bone. Boil with TSP or detergent to remove as much oil as possible.
