while hammering cable for damascus i sometimes have a problem with the edges pushing out.
I have a press so I am in the process of making a diethat maybe will help this problem.
I took a 2 inch square block of steel, center drilled a 1 inch hole in
it and then split it in the middle and fastened it to a die holder to make first weld after twisting the peice tight. Any comments as to whether this will help the problem.
Any comments or thoughts on this will be greatly appericated, thanks LeroyK

yes, your basically making a swage. A half round swage, thats what we use to weld cable in. Its very helpful.

Canister welding cable using round stainless tubing is a sure fire way to weld cable. One press and its done. No borax required either.
