I am getting ready to do a batch of folders and I have so far only made a liner lock. I am wondering what the differences are when making a Ti frame lock from a construction/difficulty standpoint. what are the reasons for choosing one or the other, and do any of you have advise for me.

Thanks!

I have only done framelocks but I don't think there is really much difference. A little more material to remove when relieving the lock and cutting the lockbar. The holes will be a bit more demanding on your bits due to the thicker titanium. Do you have a mill?

No mill, I have a drill press, and I thought I could possible use a 3/8 end mill to plunge down into the base of the lock bar and make a relief "cut". That way there are no transnational forces on the chuck, just up and down like it's designed for.

You will want radiused corners for the relief but you wont be able to plunge with ball nose mill. If you plunge with a flat mill there will be harsh 90 degree corners and it will not be as strong. If you can get a mill i reccomend it. Even a benchtop mill will be way better than a drill press. If not maybe use a dremel to round the corners but it will take some hand work to make it look good.
