I highly Recommend this epoxy- West Systems epoxy resin http://www.westsystem.com/ss/

And buy you're canvas, or linen here - http://www.hartsfabric.com/solid-color-canvas-fabric.html

Paper here - The American Stationery Company http://www.americanstationery.com/

All those above materials Ive found to be best and are EXACTLY like buying the slabs from an online source. I actually prefer to make it then ever buy it. cuz u get customization and what not. Id like to learn how to make that Ghost jade color that would be sweet. But the last micarta slab I made was from cut pieces of some Omnipat (digital Multicam) condura and it came out SICK!!!

cool tut FTO dude. Did you dye that denim green? and black? I would start using denim if I knew how to dye it correctly

HOLY CRAP! Sweet link jason! that guy is macgyver lol. Im gonna bookmark his page. Thanks. His mokume and damascus (especially cable damascus) tutorials are awesome!

Post up some photos of your micarta that you have made I would love to see how they turn out, those are some expensive links!

Sure Thing once I get me a camera! lol kinda sucks not having one, I mean everyone has one now a days besides me... But I can get a cam from my buddy and Ill surely post some for ya guys. Yeah that stuff is pretty expensive, and a lot of work. But from the different methods ive used those materials were BY FAR the best I've found yet. but worth it in my honest opinion, for what you would normally pay for a sheet the size of printer paper, you would get roughly three to four times that, depending on the size of your strips. Actually come to think of it, I have ONE pic from one of my first slabs I made. I didnt use the Canvas from that link though. I actually made this from woodland camo BDU's

They actually came out pretty good being a random pattern. I tried to stack green on brown on black, etc etc to give it a better pattern. I don't have a pic of the finished product all sanded because the web cam doesn't work anymore... which is ridiculous for the price i spent on this laptop. But the only thing I used from the above is West Systems Epoxy. Even though the pic was taken with about a 2 megapixel cam, you can see that the edge is completely solid with no air bubbles or epoxy spots. It works great trust me. But Ill borrow a friends camera and show you what I normally make now.

Oh and a note to everyone- The people in the links all used very overly complicated presses, all I do is wrap it in the wax paper, put it between two 2by4's and throw that in the vise and tighten until I almost rip the vice off the bench. And mine seem to be tighter than a lot of those pics in those links. I remember there being 30 layers in my slab in that pic, which compressed to 1/8th of an inch. And that condura pretty thick stuff.

Here ya go, Didn't even think about showing you this. This is a link to a ton of slabs for sale from the guy that actually taught me how to do it (correctly). Check out his gallery my slabs look just like his, but he really likes those flashy contrasting colors, I prefer solids.

All the slabs listed here were made from those materials that I linked to in the second post.

GOOD LUCK GUYS!

Nice work guys... thanks a lot. there is a ton of info on those links. once pay day comes, I'm going to be broke from buying materials, and most likely stuck to the floor (or workbench) I'll let you know how it turns out. our if anyone else has pictures of their own, I'd love to see them... Checked out butch first and all the other ones since. there is some seriously impressive things on here.

Alternating layers of black linen and white paper should make for some interesting stuff!
