Hi, I recently got a Bhojpure kukri from Atlanta Cutlery. There were no markings on the blade but there is a stamp in the center of the pommel any idea what it means thanks Mike

Looks like 11 (११) with something stamped over it? The Nepali number 1 (१) when stamped looks more like our "9" from the blades I have seen. It is common to have markings filed over and restamped.

I looked at the stamp under magnification with direct light the figure looked branded rather than stamped the edges are inconsist and some have a slope and some square sided. some times on the same character, Possibly carved. They are very clear and deep, they don't look filed. the sickle only crosses the left character and not the right. The sickle looks like it was done at the same time as the others there is very little difference in size of the cuts.Ill try to take a clearer picture
