What materials or tools would you suggest for this?
I know some fly fishermen do this, but I am thinking more generally.

Criptic ,for now cause, the forum software ate my detailed original post.

Wow, you guys are fast. Great ideas. Thanks.

I have watched some Youtube videos on survival fishing and survival fishing kits.
It reminds me how little I know of fishing.

Is there a specific color, specific hook, or specific lure that you would not be without?
I am not against a completed lure if there is a good reason.

Hello,

If your talking about survival fishing the best "lure" you can make while your out on the water would be the bugs you find in the area. When I was younger, I was into panfish fishing, after we ran out of earthworms we would dig up worms and find bugs. All you really need are some smaller hooks, split shot, and a bobber. I hooked into everything from bluegill to some larger bass. It works with trout just as well if your fishing a small brook or stream. When I go ultralight backpacking in an area I know Ill be able to fish I take a 7 foot 3 piece or 6 foot 2 piece ultralight rod, a 1500 or 2000 size reel with 4lbs mono, a few Kastmasters, some small spinnerbaits, powerworms and powerbait, small swivels, hooks, split shot, bobbers, and a few flies. I dont think you need anything real fancy or special. If your in a survival situation and around water the fish probably dont see much fishing pressure. If your just doing it for fun its great practice and a lot of fun. PM me if you want to do a little fishing talk, its one of my passions.

Have a good one,

Chris

I will have to figure out PMing. Thanks.

Meanwhile, after I write a post, it says that I am not logged on, so I guess it is
timing me out and not telling me and not saving the text.
Tried to change my profile; saw nothing obvious.

The "power" indicating "scented" spurred me to reading some articles.
I see some pros and cons on scents, especially if scents get on bakpack etc.

Small hooks, a few small splitshot some line is all you need, a pole is optional as you can always hand-line fish. That is all you need once you add worms, crickets etc. as bait. If you want to add some type of artificial lure try small panfish jigs (easy to hand line fish) and some basic trout flies. These will find fish if they are biting.
