I am going try and make some Micarta this weekend...are there any jigs or tricks out there?

they say only God can make a tree. i'm pretty sure the same is true for micarta.

Making G-10 is a different story since it's compressed/vacuumed like Carbon Fiber is.

You will need a few things:
Cloth material: Most of the Micarta being sold are made of Linen and Canvas. Custom makers also use Paper, Jute and more. There is no trick to it, but the end product will come out very different. IE, Linen Micarta will come out smoother since Linen is a very tightly woven together fabric, whereas Jute is a fibrous material with wide spacing.

Bonding agent: Epoxy will be stronger, and the cost will be considerably higher as well. I've read dozens of guides before I made my own Micarta with Fiberglass Resin. The guides seem to agree that Elmers Fiberglass Resin dries the clearest. I used Bondo brand and the end product is pretty yellow/hazed.

Clamps: You'll want at least a couple clamps or some weight. The Cloth material will soak up the Resin, you want to compress it so the end product becomes more Solid that just dried Resin. For a 10-20layer Micarta slab, it will be hard to clamp two boards together.

This is a good guide, it's home-made style and the end product came out excellent in my opinion

This one is a more professional style guide
