making new handles

How do I go about taking the old handle off of a fixed blade, and replacing it with one of my own making? I'm thinking I may want to do this to a CS recon tanto if I buy one.

There was a thread about this earlier - I think the knife in question was a CS Trailmaster. I don't think the Recon Tanto will ever be a comfortable knife, no matter what the handle is. The SRK is much better for combat of utility and it costs the same.
