Hello everyone I want to show you some of oroshigane we were doing with my friend Marcelo San Pedro. We took some photos although we missed many, will document the next time around.
Charcoal used as raw material and we use iron scraps. With the material we got what we forge and fold it to homogenize.
I did this blade with part of this oroshigane.

congratulations on a great melt and great end product. And I'm glad to see you got such a puck from such a large charge. I've had a lot of problems welding and folding pucks that are as large as yours. I have better luck making golf ball size pucks and welding those up. Sometimes they are almost blade quality without any folding at all when I make them that small (I still fold them up).

The blade looks wonderful.

Thanks Scott !!
We did not have enough confidence to do it without bending. We did not find entirely homogeneous. One of the parts maybe it would have been feasible, but decided to find impurities forge and fold.
Next step maybe try to make wootz. We have not yet had time to make the oven and pots.

Hello Cristian!

Thanks for sharing! Be sure to post some images of the Wootz as well - really looking forward to it!

Best regards,
Alex
